Uses & Medical Indications
Reduce LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, increase HDL, slow progression of atherosclerosis
Hyperlipidemia, Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease
Dosage & Administration Guidelines
5-40 mg once daily
5-20 mg daily for heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (>= 8 yrs)
Start at 5 mg daily
40 mg/day (only for severe hypercholesterolemia)
Start at 5 mg daily; max 10 mg/day if CrCl < 30 mL/min
Contraindicated in active liver disease

Rhabdomyolysis, hepatotoxicity, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy
